We were approached by a young family of four living in a characterful semi-detached property in Keyworth, who were in need of additional space. As with many of our customers, the preferred option was to go up into the loft. So over the course of several weeks, WD designed a dormer loft conversion for the property which fell within its permitted development rights – i.e. Planning Permission was not required. This suited the client, who were very keen to get the project started on site quickly.
The dormer loft conversion created a Master Bedroom, En Suite and Walk-In Dressing Room at second floor. Although space was lost to the (now) third Bedroom at first floor where the new staircase was formed, we were able to work with the shape of the staircase to create an alcove for a cot, small child’s bed, or study desk.
When designing a loft conversion, it’s important to consider the various fire regulations which must be adhered to as part of the building control process. Walker Design are able to guide our clients through these requirements, thinking up the best solutions and work-arounds to ensure your extension or conversion remains functional and desirable.
